Test Different Ways Of Increasing A Person s Happiness
Fordyce performed an experiment to test different ways of increasing a personââ¬â¢s happiness. A few of those ways were: keeping a positive attitude, spending less time worrying, making more time for important relationships, doing the things they enjoyed, and being more outgoing. The subjects of the experiment had mostly increased in happiness after following this list. Therefore, I could increase my personal happiness if I follow this list. Something I personally struggle with is having a negative attitude. I always find the negative in a situation because, in my experience, it is more likely to be the outcome. If I changed the way I view things, from negative to positive, I would likely have an increase in happiness. Something as small as changing a few thoughts could really impact my view on many other things. A friend of mine has recently adopted this concept of writing down all the positive things in your life on little slips of paper and putting them into a jar. When she fel t herself thinking negatively, she would read the slips of paper to remind herself of the positive things she had going for her. I have often wanted to implement this in my own life as I think it is a great, consistent way to remind oneself of the positives as I could frequently revert back to and build upon it. If I did try this method, it would hopefully help reinforce more positive thinking and less negative thinking. In relation to positive thinking, I could also spend less time worrying.
